Management of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has rejected reports questioning the credibility of results produced by its Central Laboratory, insisting that all tests conducted at the facility are scientifically accurate and reliable.
In a statement issued on Thursday, May 7, 2026, hospital authorities described recent media reports casting doubt on the laboratory’s standards as misleading and inaccurate.
According to management, the Central Laboratory is among the most advanced and best-equipped laboratories in Ghana and the West African sub-region.
The hospital noted that the facility is staffed by highly trained professionals and also serves as a major training centre for laboratory scientists working in health institutions across the country.
Management further highlighted that the laboratory holds the internationally recognised ISO 15189:2022 accreditation, which certifies its competence in medical laboratory testing and quality management systems.
“Given its standards, accreditation and track record, management assures all and sundry that the results generated by the laboratory are valid and reliable,” the statement said.
The hospital reaffirmed its commitment to improving laboratory services to support clinical care, diagnostics and medical training.
It added that investments would continue to be made in strengthening the laboratory’s capacity to deliver timely and accurate services to patients. Patients and the general public were also assured of the integrity and dependability of services provided by the Central Laboratory.
