Who We Are
The Turning Point Foundation, is a recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, dedicated to advocating for a responsive and equitable healthcare delivery system with the overarching goal of enhancing patient health outcomes. Through our experiences and a thorough analysis of the healthcare landscape, the foundation has identified several critical deficiencies that require immediate redress to foster a more effective and humane healthcare environment.
Identified Gaps in Healthcare Delivery
The foundation’s empirical investigations have brought to light four principal areas of concern, each of which undermines the efficacy of healthcare services:
- Low Morale Among Healthcare Professionals: The diminishing morale of healthcare providers is not merely a subjective experience but a systemic issue that significantly influences both their performance and the quality of care delivered to patients. This low morale can lead to burnout, decreased productivity, and ultimately, poorer health outcomes for patients.
- Inadequate Diagnostic Equipment: A systemic lack of essential diagnostic tools and hospital equipment severely restricts the ability of healthcare professionals to conduct accurate diagnoses and fulfill necessary health screening protocols. This deficiency not only prolongs patient suffering but also complicates treatment pathways, exacerbating public health challenges.
- Referral System Non-compliance: The failure to adhere to established referral protocols results in an unsustainable influx of patients into secondary and tertiary healthcare facilities. This not only strains resources but also compromises the quality of care available to patients, leading to longer wait times and diminished treatment efficacy.
- Accountability Deficiencies: The absence of robust mechanisms for performance accountability among healthcare professionals engenders a culture of impunity that undermines the integrity of the healthcare system. This lack of responsibility can erode public trust and hinder efforts to improve healthcare delivery.
