Ghana records 13 new Mpox cases, Total infections now 947

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has confirmed 13 new Mpox cases as of December 22, 2025, bringing the total number of recorded infections nationwide to 947. Two additional deaths have also been reported, increasing the cumulative number of Mpox-related fatalities to six. No new hospital admissions have been recorded.

In its latest update, the GHS explained that Mpox is primarily transmitted through close contact with an infected person. The Service is therefore encouraging the public to remain alert and continue observing preventive measures to reduce the risk of transmission.

Members of the public are advised to practise good personal hygiene and seek immediate medical care if they develop symptoms such as fever, rash, headache, muscle aches, swollen lymph nodes, chills, or unusual fatigue.

The Ghana Health Service has reaffirmed its commitment to closely monitoring the outbreak and coordinating response efforts nationwide. It also appealed for cooperation from the public to support ongoing containment measures and help protect communities across the country.
