In a letter dated February 16, 2026, and addressed to the President of the GFA, the Council directed the Association to submit the foreign credentials and certifications of all physiotherapists and physiotherapy assistants it has engaged for verification, registration and licensing in Ghana.

The letter, signed by Professor Shirazu Issahaku, Registrar of the Allied Health Professions Council, referenced the Health Professions Act, 2013 (Act 857), specifically Section 21(c), which makes it an offence for any person to practise or profess to practise as an allied health professional in Ghana without prior registration and a valid licence.

According to the Council, Mr Carlos Lozano Romero and any other foreign physiotherapist or assistant engaged by the GFA must first be registered with the AHPC and issued the appropriate licence before undertaking any physiotherapy-related duties in the country.

Professor Issahaku noted that this requirement is standard for all allied health professionals, whether practising in Ghana or trained abroad, and must be respected by all authorities and agencies.
